Loofah Related Questions
What exactly is a loofah (luffa)?
Loofah is a type of gourd (yes, a cousin of squash and zucchini!) that, when matured and dried, transforms into a natural sponge. We use it in bath, body, and cleaning products because of its natural exfoliating and scrubbing properties. Check out our Loofah Grove™ products for more information.
Are your Loofah products organically grown?
Absolutely! All of our loofahs are organically grown in Morgan Hill, CA. We use sustainable practices and never any chemicals—just fertile organic soil, water, and California sunshine.
Can I compost my used Loofah?
Yes! Loofahs are 100% biodegradable and can be home composted. They’ll naturally return to the earth, making them an eco-friendly alternative to synthetic sponges. Do your part....stop using synthetic "loofahs" that end up in our land fills.
Why do your Loofahs all look different?
Nature loves variety and no two are ever identical! Each one develops its own unique shape and size. Think of them as nature’s fingerprints—perfectly imperfect.
Can I grow my own Loofah?
Absolutely! We sell loofah seeds with growing instructions. Remember: Loofahs love sunshine, require a sturdy climbing trellis and need a bit of patience, but they’re incredibly rewarding, beautiful to look at, tasty to eat and fun to grow!
Are Loofahs edible?
Yes, loofah gourds are edible when they're about the size of a small zucchini or cucumber. Loofah is a great substitute for recipes that call for zucchini.
