Wildflower "Raw" Honey
-
"Raw" means the honey has not been heated using high heat. From here, the differences are between strained, unfiltered or filtered which comes down to how much solid material is removed.
-
Raw Strained honey is poured through a coarse mesh or strainer to remove large pieces of wax, bee parts, or hive debris but is smooth and clean-looking.
-
Raw Filtered honey is run through a fine filter or cloth (finer than a strainer) which removes smaller pieces of wax, bee parts, or hive debris and is much clearer with an even smoother appearance. The texture is liquid and golden, with less cloudiness.
-
Raw Unfiltered is the least processed but may contain large pieces of wax, bee parts, or hive debris and is cloudier and thicker, and often has a very strong, robust flavor.
